My Current Coverage Is Too Expensive

I don't have any coverage, and

I have coverage now, but

  • I'm losing my group coverage.
  • It's too expensive. (Group Insurance vs. Individual/Family Insurance. See below for answers for either situation.)

I have coverage at work, but it's too expensive.

Chances are, your employer is contributing a considerable amount to your premium, up to 100% of your premium.

What employees don't realize is just how expensive their group coverage really is. The better the plan, the more the premium. Even if your employer is covering 50% or more toward your coverage, your share of that premium may be costing you more than you're willing to spend.

If you are paying most or all of the premium for your dependents, and you find that this is unaffordable, you may wish to consider an individual/family plan for your dependents. If this is the case, we would encourage you to
GET A QUOTE from us on your dependent coverage. You may find a plan that meets your family's needs at a lesser cost. PLEASE NOTE, you will not find comparable coverage for a lesser price in the individual/family market.

In California, the cost is the same to have 1 child on a group plan as it is to have 10. That's not the case with an individual health plan. You're going to pay separately for each child.

IMPORTANT: Traditioanl individual/family plans are NOT guarantee issue, which means that applicants can be rated or declined coverage by the insurance carrier. DO NOT drop anyone from your group plan before receiving a letter of acceptance from the carrier for an individual plan.

I have individual/family coverage, but it's too expensive.

Chances are, if you already have individual/family coverage, we as agents will not be able to assist you UNLESS you know for sure that you signed up directly with the carrier (via the carrier's website or direct phone). You should contact your insurance carrier (contact info is on the back of your insurance card) or your current agent to find a more affordable option. You may be able to switch to another plan easily and without underwriting (which means... no application!).

If you do not currently have an agent (again, because you signed up directly with the carrier), we would encourage you to
GET A QUOTE. If your rates have gone up, it doesn't hurt to check your alternatives.

Let me give you a tip: There are no smoke and mirrors when it comes to the price you pay for health insurance. When you see a plan that costs less than another, there IS a reason. Should you pay for the most expensive plan you can find? Absolutely not, unless it fits YOUR needs. Should you buy the cheapest? In most cases, absolutely not. We're here to educate you to help you find the plan that fits you best. Please review our "Frequently Asked Questions" located on the right-hand side of this page for more helpful information.
