What is covered under Medicare?
Medicare coverage for many tests, items and services depends on where you live. This list only includes tests, items and services that are covered no matter where you live. If your test, item or service isn’t listed, talk to your doctor or other health care provider. They can help you understand why you need certain tests, items or services, and if Medicare will cover them. Keep I mind that even if Medicare covers a service or item, you generally have to pay your deductible, coinsurance, and copayment.
What is Not Covered in Medicare?
Some of the items and services that Medicare doesn’t cover include:
- Long-term care (also called custodial care)
- * Most dental care
- * Eye exams related to prescribing glasses
- * Dentures
- * Cosmetic surgery
- * Acupuncture
- * Hearing aids and exams for fitting them
- * Routine foot care
